Why do so many people on here take issue with American Christians?

I don't understand the fascination with Christianity in the United States, especially from atheists and Europeans. The majority of Americans are Christians ... why is this a problem? It's called religious freedom, one of the core founding principles of this country. Is that so hard to understand?
