Why do really pretty white girls fake tan?

Im white and I go tanning and the reason why I go is because, I would rather be tan then REALLY white. Alot of girls prefer to be just barely tan or tan because, they either have like rosey cheeks from being white or they think they are too white. Personally I dont like to be as tan as someone who is spanish. I think its better to be lightly tan. Like how tan white people get in summer.
