When will the fascination with cell phones, texting, i touches, facebook and all the rest end?

I realize this is relatively new technology and everyone is still excited about it and I also realize as soon as one form ends, another will be there to pick up the pieces but I can't wait for people to stop staring at their stupid phones. At what point will people just stop? We look like a bunch of idiots who can't look away from their stupid phones, kindles and I pads.
