Why has the quality of music been down since the late 1980's?

I was born in 1994 and my parents HATED contemporary R&B they liked old school Earth wind and fire,Stevie Wonder,Marvin Gaye and some 80's R&B&Soul before the whole hip hop/R&B fushion which in my opinion ruined both genres in a way but overcommercializing the.I was born on the wrong generation period.I should have grown up in like the 60's
