My friend is ruining my social life. How do i get rid of him?

I have a friend who is a complete nerd. whenever I am with my friends, he comes in and ruins the moment. He follows me around, stalks me wherever i go, and always walks at least 2 feet away from me. IT'S FREAKING ME OUT. I think hes gay, but i still don't want to make him feel bad. and his mom is over protective, and last time someone defriended him, she hunted the guy down and freaking slapped him. He tried to sue her, but she had an awesome lawyer. Her first name is Gaye..... coincedence? anyway, HOW THE **** DO I GET HIM OUT OF MY LIFE!?!? i would love an answer for this, i have been looking for one for a long time. and please, IF I CAN **** HIM UP WITHOUT HURTING HIM, TELL ME NOW. thanks
