Why the big fascination on TV with Jersey?

There's the typical shows with typical characters like *Jersey Shore* and then there's *Jerseylicious* and then there's *The Real Housewives Of New Jersey*. Which all are pretty much the same. Why this fascination with New Jersey characters who all sound and pretty much act the same?* Big hair, big mouths, and drunken fights. I don't watch the shows but have seen clips on the news and videos of them on Youtube just out of curiosity to see what all the hype was about. And I never did see it (the hype).
